New Bombardier Aircraft Service Facility at London Biggin Hill to create over 100 jobs

London Biggin Hill Airport takes another step towards target of creating 2,300 high-quality, well-paid jobs by 2030, with Bombardier opening

London Biggin Hill Airport has confirmed that world leading manufacturer of business jets, Bombardier, celebrated the opening of its new service facility earlier this week. The significant expansion of the Canadian manufacturer’s European presence at London Biggin Hill will create more than 100 new jobs by the end of 2023.

London Biggin Hill is a private airport which caters exclusively for aircraft in business and private aviation.

The Bromley-based airport is focussed on becoming a world-class business aviation centre of excellence in manufacturing and engineering. This includes investing in the airport estate and infrastructure to create job opportunities for Bromley residents, training opportunities for local young people and provide an economic boost to the region.

David Winstanley, CEO at London Biggin Hill Airport said: “We are delighted that Bombardier has chosen London Biggin Hill to invest and expand. This latest announcement is a direct result of the extension to the airport opening hours in 2016 and delivers another of the promises we made to attract more businesses and employment to the Borough and the UK.

“We believe that when our business prospers so too should our local community. That’s why, in uncertain economic times, we’re seeing through our plan to create an extra 2,300 jobs by 2030. We are committed to evolving, looking to the future and delivering future-proofed jobs for Bromley.”

“The expansion of the London Biggin Hill Service Centre provides our European and international customers with industry-leading services on a global scale – OEM expertise that customers demand and expect from Bombardier,” said Jean-Christophe Gallagher, Executive Vice President, Services and Support, and Corporate Strategy.

“This expansion perfectly underscores our ongoing commitment to the region, allowing us to be closer to our customers and offering them even more world-class services and support.”

Bombardier moved to Biggin Hill from Amsterdam in 2017and this latest opening will provide a 250,000 sq. ft. service facility with the space and flexibility to offer a full range of maintenance and refurbishment services, such as component painting and interior refurbishment.
